The worst named band since A.C.

I'm not going to tell you what A.C. stands for if you don't already know. Hint: it's not Animal Collective.

NME always has something to hype up. Nowadays they are praising the bands that play "New Rave." Which is basically dance punk, but by a different name so NME can both say that they found the bands and that the genre is a British invention. The biggest of these are the Klaxons, with their little Pynchon-y ditty, Gravity's Rainbow. Not bad, but certainly not worthy of the hype.

However, lesser known (esp. on this side of the pond) are the horribly named Shitdisco. Instead of the Klaxon's Rapture-aping, Shitdisco go with a decidedly older sound. They mix a good deal of Devo with loads of the punkier new wave acts. It's quirky, danceable and fun, and deserving of hype. Looking forward to an LP from these guys, but for now we have their single "Reactor Party."
